Denmark Street Art 2012-2017

When I take a look back into 2012 the moment I have arrived I remember, I have already been flattered  by the street art in Aarhus. Not only were they expressive, but very colorful and inspiring.
During the time I was collecting street art from all over the places I also had to question myself, what can I really call street art? Likewise, do single houses fall into that category? A balloon on the street maybe? Or any shop decoration is considered as street art? Can we, passer byes be street arts too?
Graffiti's and tube stickers, ground chalks and random mottoes on various places are commonly called street art, but to me, the mentioned above also created value. Most of the times because I liked the graphics or the idea, sometimes I was caught by the moment. It was hard not to take pictures of everything, because the city/cities has too much to offer. And it is of course, not only Aarhus. The best and most crowded place with street art is definitely Amsterdam, but Budapest also has hidden gems. Copenhagen has a flourishing street mecca too, I can imagine how much it changed since my last visit. I am very much into the colorful and urban decoration of the cities, because they provide a platform to basically anyone, who wants to show off their talents.

Here are the selected pictures from the year of:

2012, Aarhus

The Listener wallpaper. Abstract graphic design on an electric box.

Bike + plant is a really common and catchy thing in street decorating

Bird feeding house with a graphic bird sticker. Unusual in the city center, yet rather cute.

From 2012 when KPop and revolution kids ruled the streets.

Mejlegade. Two friends hugging.

2013, Copenhagen

Peter is welcomed, but not allowed to drive in :)

Definitely one of the bests; yellow hugging foxes

In a society equality has a great support, female future ruled the streets. And peace.

A bit creepy , on a postbox.

One of the two facing dogs in the heart of Copenhagen, sculpted in.

Flower and boot composition. Guerrilla marketing, maybe?

As it is, looks calm and beautiful.

Birdy graff mom with offsprings

A typical candle, rethought and retouched.

Definitely one of the most colorful street spots in Copenhagen.

2017, Aarhus

Salad-prototype with a balanced background.

Whoever made this beauty, I have something to tell them!

At Reuse, not currently available to see, but definitely my favorite graffiti. Like, ever.

Something from the advertisements too. Ssssshhh!

Girls, do not just blow dicks. Blow minds, too!

Aarhus 2017 Capital of Culture installation - The same for everyone (at Rådhuset)

Popular face at Godsbanen...

...and a not so popular, still at Godsbanen (not so far away from each other)

A message only the gifted few understand.

A new level of creating value.

Reuse. Rethink. Recycle.

It is not only the graphics or the looks, but the message, the idea and installation the individuals make. What is the purpose to all of this? To make us, people living in a busy crowd to think for a moment and feel. A single mustache on a hippo's face, or a crazy sentence is able to catch our attention and therefore we think about it. We bend our lips to a smile, make a grim even (if we see something provocative) and revisit the places to get back to the good memories. We meet them every day. They change as we change; it is perfect like this.
